Paul Ficken

Whimsical Ceramic Sculpture

Paul W. Ficken is a recent addition to the Pacific Northwest - originally from the San Francisco Bay Area.  Paul taught high school fine arts for 40 years, before retiring in 2007. Kingston, Wa. wasn't the first home to his colorful and whimsical style.  He originally developed his unique clay creations while living in the Denver, Colorado area before moving to Kingston, Washington in 2016 with his wife and fellow artist Ruth A. Ficken.

Paul's creations, all hand-built and one-of-a-kind, were called "The Bob's"during their early years.  They are a direct reflection of his whimsical, carefree approach to life and his art.  Each of his sculptures is a story waiting to be told.  When you find Paul, ask him about one of his pieces and you'll get a lively tale of travel, self discovery and the joy of being in the moment and learning to make your own happiness.
